Hamilton at Last

We motored out of Mimico and up past Port Credit heating water to do the dishes (still such an exciting idea, hot and cold running water). Along the way we sighted the Jana Desgagnes coming in to Clarkson refinery. That would hardly be notable except that son Jamie has been serving as third mate on her sistership the Maria Desgagnes. So of course I took a picture.

We sailed on through good, but shifty wind, then powered under the lift bridge and into Hamilton Harbour. The industrial shores are pretty forbidding and the whiffs of brimstone on a record hot day left us wondering what we were getting into. Fortunately the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club has both an air conditioned bar and a swimming pool. We're tied up on the front wall with a nice breeze to cool things a little. RHYC is the final destination on our scavenger hunt list for the Fort Frontenac Cruising Cup. We've been collecting ports and anchorages all over the lake and the river since 2005 to meet the requirements. We may be the first at KYC unless Ted and Sue Baker beat us to it on their trip to Brockville.
